 Non-Hermitian & PT-symmetric systems


We study the effects induced by loss and/or gain in a variety of wave mechanical structures including acoustic metamaterials, photonic multilayers and quantum systems. In particular, the study of losses is essential due to the unavoidable attenuation in realistic and experimental settings. Coherent perfect absorption (CPA), CPA-laser points at the same frequency, uni- and bi-directional transparency and invisibility are some of the intriguing phenomena emerging from the interplay of loss and gain in PT- and non-PT symmetric systems.
